“Once I put on that uniform I project the brand’s image and there’s a certain expectation that comes with that.”

“I appreciate what the passengers want and I’m very proud to work for Cathay. Once I put on that uniform I project the brand’s image and there’s a certain expectation that comes with that. But sometimes I am more than happy to do more than what is expected of me. On one occasion we had a passenger who had an eye infection and the doctors had bandaged his whole face so he couldn’t see anything. He had no vision and he was travelling alone. I was the only one who was able to help him. He hadn’t eaten for some time and was hungry, so I brought everything he requested and fed him myself. It was quite awkward because he was embarrassed, but he had to trust me. I knew it was sensitive and he felt vulnerable because he didn’t know what his surroundings were. He also thought his belongings might get stolen, or that something horrible might happen to him, but I reassured him that I would stay with him at all times. It would have been heartless to leave him alone, and it just came naturally to me.”
