“Part of what we do is to try and understand what the customer is all about and how they want to travel. We’ve realised over the years, especially with technology, that people are ‘time poor’. Customers want to spend less time at the airport or more time at home, or even the office. So one of the projects we did was introduce mobile check-in that enables passengers to get a boarding pass before getting to the airport. As for travelling well, personally, preparation is one thing, but attitude is everything. You can make or break a trip if you don’t have the right mindset. Even when I was a flight attendant I was conscious of how our customers and passengers felt on the flight. I was aware of being pro-active to their needs and not waiting for them to ask for anything. It’s all about anticipation. It makes a big difference. Now it’s more about making sure that everything works within the technology infrastructure and that it’s reliable. The service we offer our customers has to be seamless and secure. The service culture in this company is far reaching. It’s not just in the frontline staff. It’s something that permeates right through.”
