“And now that I am a pilot I recognise what a small piece of the puzzle I am.”

“I started travelling when I was around six years old when my parents took me to Vancouver. It was particularly memorable because I had seen planes every day growing up near the old airport in Prince Edward. From my balcony I would watch them come in before making the big turn into the runway. It was fascinating to see such big planes moving in that way, flying so low. They were beautiful to watch, especially at night. I used to live near San Francisco airport and whenever I drove by I would see the Cathay plane parked there. And every time I saw the tail fin and the Cathay logo I could almost smell Mong Kok and hear the people, I could hear the buses and feel the air. I felt like I was back in Hong Kong. It was so vivid. And now that I am a pilot I recognise what a small piece of the puzzle I am. So many other people have to do their job right in order to get this operation working. When I fly, I put myself in the shoes of the passengers, especially when it comes to delays, so I always communicate when there is turbulence or any changes to the travel plans.”
